Learning Objectives:

  1. Discuss whether low-FODMAP diets are nutritionally adequate when compared to other diets in management of IBS
  2. Compare low-FODMAP diet with gluten free and balanced Mediterranean diet for reduction in IBS symptoms, quality of life and adherence
  3. Determine whether a low-FODMAP diet is effective in reducing acute IBS symptoms
  4. Describe whether all FODMAPs must be removed from the diet to impact quality of life, acute symptoms and severity of symptoms in patients with IBS
