Presentation Learning Objectives:

  • To describe the future financial model of healthcare delivery and the impact on dietetics practice.
  • To understand how to translate questions about clinical practice into quality improvement projects to documents outcomes.
  • To describe the utilization of quality improvement data to inform practice and policy.

Presenters: 

Christopher A. Taylor, PhD, RDN, LD, FAND and Natalie Stephens, RDN, LD, FAND

Dr. Chris Taylor is a professor of Medical Dietetics as well as Family Medicine in the College of Medicine at the Ohio State University. He completed his bachelor's degree in dietetics at Bowling Green State University and his master's and internship at Arizona State University. Before he started his PhD at Oklahoma State he was an intern at the NIH Center in Phoenix to work with the Pima Indian population with the highest rate of type 2 diabetes in the world. Dr. Taylor has spent 20 years examining secondary data to evaluate lifestyle behaviors and the risk factors related to obesity chronic disease.


Natalie Stephens is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian/Nutritionist at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.  She practiced inpatient clinical at University Hospital East for 11 years in ICU, progressive care, orthopedic and cardiovascular units as well as outpatient counseling.  For the last 3 years in her administrative role as Lead Dietitian, she has grown the outpatient business within Nutrition Services, co-managed inpatient clinical practice for a staff of 53 (RDNs and DTRs). She has a growing passion for research and is pursuing a master of science in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at The Ohio State University (under the tutelage of Dr. Chris Taylor). Natalie is a past President of the Ohio Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics, has held numerous positions (policy, reimbursement) in state and local affiliates and is currently the Chair of the Nutrition Services Payment Committee for the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics as well as State Policy & Consumer Protection Coordinator Co-Chair for OAND. 

Cost: 

Free for GCDA members, $20 for non-GCDA Members and $5 for non-GCDA Students
